Artists Statement

Using precious metals and textiles I create striking jewellery for people with a unique flair.

I aim to create work which is artistic by design and perhaps crosses boundaries within the traditional jewellery scene. The textile techniques along with the metalwork create something which is highly striking and original.

The work is inspired by nature, in the form of fluid rhythm and motion. Silver wire, and silk thread are the main materials used, with the occasional use of gold (normally 22 or 18ct). The silver is often oxidised as the contrast between the blackened silver and the warm colour of gold is very striking.

I aim to create extremely tactile jewellery which is full of movement and energy. Varying shades of red are the preferred colour scheme as this gives the most vibrant effect and silk thread is used because I enjoy the combination of the soft material with the hard metal.

Traditional metalwork techniques are used along with some textile techniques such as braiding and knotting.

The main focus of work is bracelets and necklaces as I feel that this allows for more freedom due to the nature of working on a slightly larger scale. I do, however, have a range of more affordable designs some of which do not include silk thread.

Prices range from £30
